The First Annual Single Parents with MS Mustaches for MS luncheon and fundraiser was held March 13, 2022 at the Eagle Oaks Country Club in Colts Neck, NJ. The event sold-out and was a tremendous success, boosting the organization’s ability to help more families in need.
Darrell Wordelmann, Founder of Single Parents with MS, presented the foundation’s first-ever annual Give Back Award to Dr. David Duncan as a part of the event. Wordelmann, speaking on behalf of the Board of Directors wrote, “We believe in using an MS specialist, and Dr. Duncan is one of the top MS Specialists in the area.”
As Hackensack Meridian Health describes, “David B. Duncan M.D., FAAN, has been managing multiple sclerosis patients for more than 20 years. He has been involved in MS-related clinical and drug development studies. He has held teaching positions at Columbia and New York University and is now director of the new comprehensive MS Center located at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. In addition to his expertise in MS, he has added experience in neurorehabilitation and offers spasticity management through the use of medications, botulinum toxin and intrathecal baclofen.”
The luncheon was developed as a continuation of the original Mustaches for MS fundraiser which encouraged participants to grow mustaches or wear costumes ones from March 8th through March 12th while seeking sponsors to donate to the MS foundation. The original dates coincided with the birth and passing date of Founder Darrell Wordelmann’s mother, whose own struggles after being diagnosed with MS were the impetus for the foundation’s formation.
The foundation plans to continue the event on an annual basis. The second annual fundraiser is scheduled for March 26, 2023 and will honor Dr. Saud Sadiq of the Tisch MS Center in New York City with the Give Back Award.
